Annual Ronin Sharma Memorial Tournament

The purpose of the Ronin Sharma Memorial Tournament is to honour Ronin’s hockey legacy and passion for hockey through hosting a fun, fair and safe tournament for the hockey community.

2024 Tournament Details:

When: Friday July 19th - Sunday July 21st, 2024

Where: Planet Ice Coquitlam - 2300 Rocket Way, Coquitlam

Who:

• Bantam Division (Ages 13-14)

• Midget Division (Ages 15-17)

• Junior A/B Division (Ages 16-20)

• Juvenile Division (Ages 18-20)

• Adult Division (Ages 20+)

• Women’s Division (Ages 16+)
  

  * Spots are on a first come first serve basis, if your registration is not sent in on time your payment will be refunded.

Tournament Rules:

The purpose of the Ronin Sharma Memorial Tournament is to honour Ronin’s hockey legacy and passion for hockey through hosting a fun, fair and safe tournament for the hockey community.

To do so, we have created a set of rules which must be followed.

Rules:

1. Roster Size

• Teams are allowed to submit a roster of 18 Players maximum including any spares you may have coming to fill in

• All players who wish to play in the tournament MUST be submitted on the final roster. No one will be allowed to be added to a roster once the tournament begins

2. Each round games consists of:

• 5 min warmup

• 20 min runtime (1st and 2nd periods)

• 15 min runtime (3rd period)

  • Final 3 minutes will be stop time if game within 2 goals

• 5 min runtime overtime (3 on 3)

• If no winner game ends in a tie

3. Elimination/Playoff Game

• 5 min warmup

• 20 min runtime (1st and 2nd periods)

• 15 min runtime (3rd period)

  • Final 10 minutes of 3rd period will be stop time if game within 4 goals

• 5 min overtime that will be stop time (3 on 3)

• Shootout if needed (3 Shooters)

4. Point Structure

• Regulation Win = 3 points

• Overtime Win = 2 points

• Overtime Loss/Tie = 1 point

• Regulation Loss = 0 points

  In the event of a tie after the round robin games, ties will be broken in the following order:

  • Head to Head

  • Goal Differential

  • Goals For

  • Goals Against

  • Coin Flip

5. Penalties/Offsides/Icing

• Minor penalties will be 3 minutes during run time and 2 minutes during stop time

• Double minor penalties will be 5 minutes during run time and 4 minutes during stop time

• Head contact penalties will be automatic double minors

• NO BODY CHECKING - This will result in a major penalty and game misconduct

  • Will be reviewed for potential suspension

• FIGHTING WILL RESULT IN A SUSPENSION FOR THE DURATION OF THE TOURNAMENT

• Face-offs will move to offensive zone on penalties

• A penalty called in overtime will result in a 4 on 3 powerplay

  • At the end of the penalty, players will be allowed to join the play and it will continue as 4 on 4 until the next whistle

• No touch icing

• Offsides will be called

**Alcohol and smoking will NOT be tolerated in the Arena and Dressing Rooms

**Disrespect of the Planet Ice Facility/Changerooms will not be tolerated

6. Each player must wear their team jersey during each game and are responsible for it throughout the entire tournament.

7. Dressing rooms will be assigned and posted. Any damage to a dressing room will be charged to that team. If you see any damage when you first enter your room, please contact the Tournament Committee. We are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property, teams are responsible for the security of their assigned dressing rooms. The Tournament Committee will ensure that dressing rooms are appropriately cleaned between use.

8. Sportsmanship: Each team member will be held responsible for their conduct on and off the ice, which includes the arena facilities and parking lot areas.

9. Each team member is responsible for ensuring that they are on the roster and have signed in at the sign in desk before the first game.

10. Each participant must be aware of the rules governing this tournament.

Tournament Fees:

Early Bird Registration (Before June 1st): $1000.00

Following June 1st: $1250.00

Deadline for Registration Paperwork and Team Fees: June 22nd

Please note the following cancellation policy for the Tournament:

Prior to July 1st: $0 cancellation fee

July 1st – July 15: 50% of the registration fee

After July 15: 100% non-refundable.
